It also overwrites many YUP fixes for NPCs, though these can be patched using FNVEdit. It requires the bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles INI setting to be enabled, which causes performance loss due to generating NPC face textures on the fly in-game. It doesn't cover every NPC in the game (Plus NPCs from the DLCs or mods), so any uncovered NPCs look very out of place. The installer auto-selects patches for mods you don't have installed and installs the Glowing Ghouls file which causes massive performance drops and save bloat. Also can be very performance intensive due to constantly-running scripts and has a bug that can cause NPCs to teleport directly to you upon entering an interior.įallout Character Overhaul: Multiple broken file paths which cause missing mesh triangles and pink textures. Charge's in particular upscales files it shouldn't such as normal maps and glow maps, and has textures with major artifacting.īorderlands Inspired Numeric Damage: Causes save bloat due to not destructing its strings. Just for reference, a maximum of 2K at 1080p is a pretty safe bet in terms of balance.Ĭharge's HD Texture Pack/other AI-upscaled texture packs: Mods upscaled with AI or other lazy techniques generally are not worth the resolution increase. Keep in mind that the textures will not be displayed with their full resolution at all times, in fact they will be scaled down because of mipmaps based on distance and other factors, as shown with these sliders. Oversized textures: Based on the object size and how the texture is wrapped around it, you should pick textures with a reasonable resolution and avoid the very big ones also based on your display resolution. I recommend using a ReShade preset instead, such as Vibrance or Vanilla Plus ReShade Preset. They also use a lot of vision-obscuring effects like depth of field, lens flares, bloom, and chromatic aberration to obscure the broken Anti-aliasing, which makes them very hard to play with. They have a ton of bugs and performance issues, such as broken Anti-aliasing, transparent objects, and glowing objects (Though glowing objects can be mostly mitigated with ENB Glowing Objects Overhaul). Mission Mojave: Heavily outdated compared to Yukichigai Unofficial Patch, will break more than it fixes and cause crashing.ĮNB: As mentioned earlier with ENBoost, ENBs were never fully developed for New Vegas and have been abandoned by the author. Save Cleaner: Works by going through your save file and deleting every REFR file, which will most likely break your save. Essentially the same function is performed safely by the INI tweaks in the guide. Zan AutoPurge Crash Protector/PCB Hotkey: The script command used by these mods is a leftover command from development that forcefully clears buffered cells from memory, which can lead to unforeseen consequences. ENB in general for New Vegas has been more or less abandoned in favor of Skyrim and Fallout 4. ENBoost also needs a lot of system-specific configuration to work properly and can degrade performance without proper tweaking. There is no reason to use NVSR, even on Windows 7.ĮNBoost: New Vegas Tick Fix has much better memory management than ENBoost, and will increase performance/decrease stuttering more. These mods also have many great features that NVSR never had, like the high FPS physics fix. Every single feature from NVSR has been replaced in a modern manner by the combination of New Vegas Tick Fix, New Vegas Heap Replacer, and lStewieAl's Tweaks. I wonder which logs and files I should post here to make the problem easier to detect. Please help.New Vegas Stutter Remover: Will cause crashes roughly every 15 minutes. It's too frustrating to spend dozens of hours setting such complex mods and just having and unplayable experience. I wonder if I should try Zan AutoPurge Crash Protection ( ) even though it's not listed on the guide. I use a couple of things not listed in the guide: FNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting intead of Nevada Skies (my FPS is undesirable even though I have a GTX 770 4GB and an i5 4670k), OneTweak, an integrated Wild Wasteland trait and easier hacking terminal mod. The problem was indeed worse (the game crashed regularly within minutes even when just walking the wasteland, after applying ENB the crashes reduced, but nonetheless are too frequent and immersion breaking). Hi, I tried to follow EssArrBee's guide rigorously, but as I'm suffering from constant crashes (for example, screen freezing upon fast travel with radio still going) I assume something critical is missing on my setup, although I'm failing to see what.
